Obituary from The Appleton City Journal, Appleton City, St. Clair, MO, Thursday, Mar. 2, 1922
IN MEMORY OF JOHN COVEY
John Covey was born in Georgetown, Mo., August 1, 1842, and departed this life at his home in Appleton City, Mo., February 21, 1922, aged 79 years, 6 months and 20 days. His education was received in the common schools of the community in which he grew. When the Civil war broke out he was one of the first to enlist, serving his country almost three years. Upon his discharge from the army he engaged in farming and this was his occupation until he retired and moved to Appleton City.
July 25, 1861, he was married to Miss Miranda D. Vanhoy, and to this union six children were born, only two of whom survive the deceased, W. O. Covey and Mrs. Jennie Bowden. After the death of his companion which occurred Mar. 14, 1874, in the fall of 1875 he was again married to Ines Morris, and to this union six children were born, two of whom are now living: A. M. Covey and O. O. Covey. The companion of the second union died February 13, 1921. He is survived by the wife of his third marriage, who so devotedly and lovingly cared for him during his last illness.
Thus ended the life of a worthy citizen, a loving father, a faithful companion and a loyal churchman. Our brother going from us has made earth poorer but heaven richer and nearer to us because he is there.
The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. A. Waters, of the Appleton City M. E. church at White Oak church in Henry county, after which the body was laid to rest in the church cemetery." Obit submitted by: Karen Foreman
(Alert: Obit refers to 2nd wife as Ines Morris; she was Mary Isabell Morris. It is possible her nickname was Ines. Also states he had six children with each of his first two wives, per census and burial records, he had seven with each.)

Buried White Oak Cemetery, Lucas, Henry Co, MO.
