Mary Wright

(Abt 1736 - Aft 1805)

Earlier research concluded that Mary (Wright) Mims was likely the daughter of John Wright, carpenter of Goochland Co, VA, and his wife Judith Easly. There is no single document, but circumstantial evidence exist.
10 Apr 1739, Goochland DB 3, p.213. John Wright purchased 358 acres from Robert Mimms. Witnesses inclued John Mimms and David Mimms.
12 Apr 1748 Processioning records in the St. James Northam Parish Vestry Book mentioned "lines between John Plesants and John Wright, Philip Ryan & John Mullins with John Mullin and John Mims present" also "line between John Wright and John Mullints, John Mullins & John Mims, John Mullins, Philip Ryan & John Wright present" There seems to be little doubt that John Mims and John Wright were neighbors.
23 Dec 1756 Thomas Mims & Mary Wright, both of the Parish of St James Northam, were married.
Naming patterns of the children - a daughter Judith, and a son John Wright Mims - would also indicate the likely parental relationship of Mary (Wright) Mims.

The will of Thomas Mims, dated 16 Feb 1793, in Charlotte Co, VA, left his remaining lands to his son John, as well as Mary's part at her death.
Nov 1805. The widow Mary and John Mimms sold 155 acres in Charlotte Co to Robert Moore and they moved to Caswell County, NC
