Buried Eddy Cemetery, Scipio, Cayuga Co, NY
Julia married William C. Gray on 3 January 1844, presumbably at Scipio. In 1850, Julia and William were at Castile, Wyoming Co., New York where William was a Farmer. By 1860, they were back in Scipio. Julia and William removed to Rushford, Allegany Co., New York by 1862. William was a Hotel Keeper there, but the venture was unprofitable, forcing the couple to return to Scipio and work the East Hoskins Farm on Black Street. After Julia's death, William remarried. Julia and William had five children: Edward F., Alice C., Willie De Forest, Jennie M., and Carrie Ann Gray.
"City and County. . . . April 30, 1877.-Mrs. William Gray died on the morning of April 27th, 1877 [NOTE: Cemetery list gives 26 April - R. A. Post]. This is a great bereavement to her family and to all of her neighbors and friends-and who that ever know her was not her friend? She was universally beloved. She was the daughter of Samuel Hoskins and was born in the town of Scipio." - R Post
