29 Apr 1831 To Joshua Hoskins. Horatio Hoskins, son of Samuel Hoskins deceased, late of town of Scipio, age 16 on the 11th of August last (1830) presented his petition stating he was entitled to real estate in Cayuga County and requests that Joshua Hoskins be his guardian until he reaches the age of 21. On the 20th of April, Joshua had consented. He is to render a full accounting of his guardianship. Signed: John Porter, Surrogate. At the village of Auburn. The petition of the 20th is signed Shandy Horatio Hopkins.

p.81 To Irene Hoskins. Melinda Hoskins, daughter of Samuel Hoskins late of Scipio, deceased. She was 15 on the 2nd of April ,instant (1831) and chooses Irene Hoskins to be her guardian, who consented on the 20th of April. Guardianship granted until Melinda reaches the age of 21. Dated and recorded 19 Apr 1831. [Irene was her mother]

David was twelve on the 22nd day of June last past (1830) and she requests to be his guardian. She is appointed until he reaches the age of fourteen. 19 Apr 1831.

Irene Hoskins's petition for guardianship of the children under age 14, states that each of her children are entitled to one-eighth of an undivided parcel of land of about 116 acres in the town of Scipio. The annual rent of the whole would not exceed $200 and there was very little personal property. Dated 20 Apr 1831.
