Individual Details

During the murder trial over the death of his father, a subpoena was issued to Frank Comstock and Willie Comstock, Anderson Co, Kansas. The sheriff returned shows he served the subpoena so they were there. Willie was still living with his father the night of the poisoning, and had been sickened as well. He must have gone to live with his older brother James after their father's death. The following census record confirms this, and by 1900 they were back in Missouri.

R. Anna Comstock, (wid of J. Frank) rents at 802 Rex Ave - her brother-in-law Wm D. Frank lived at 1002 Rex Av and her sister-in-law Nancy J., widow of Elonzo E. Comstock lived at 802 Connecticut Av

Missouri Death Certificate #27456 again lists his name as James Franklin Comstock who lived at East 9th & Rex Crossing in Joplin. He was married to Anna Comstock. Born 14 Mar 1859 in Missouri, died 4 Sep 1923 of carcinoma of the stomach, died at 64 years, 5 months, 20 days. He was retired. Father was Ervin Comstock, born in Tennessee, mother unknown. The informant was Anna Comstock. Frank was buried Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin on September 5th, 1923.

Funeral service for Frank Comstock, 64 years old, who died early Tuesday morning, were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the residence, East Ninth Street & Rex Crossing. The Rev. E. L. Compere, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. He is survived, besides his wife, Mrs. Anna Comstock, by a daughter, Mrs. Laura Carson; three brothers and two sisters.
