Anderson McLemore

(3 Oct 1818 - 1 Dec 1896)

"Hunting For Bears" - Alabama marriages. Anderson McLemore married Jane Ware, 5 Sep 1837, Tallapoosa Co, AL. The bond is on FamilySearch.org and her name was plainly Jane Ware

Probably Anderson:
1840 Census. Chambers Co, AL
Anderson McLemore - 1m under 5, 1m 20-30; 1f under 5, 1f 20-30

1850 Census. Moro Twp, Dallas, AR, Hh 20
Anderson McLamore, age 30, b. GA
Jane, 30, b. GA
Wm P. 11, b. AL
Jno E. 8, b. AL
Alex P. 6, b. AL
Pleasant McLamore, age 60, b. NC
The Slave Schedule for 1850 shows 13 slaves between the ages of 35 and 1.

The marriage is indexed as Anderson McLenon. Other records show that his name was McLemore. When I saw the entry in the county marriage book - it was plainly McLemore.

He was age 35 in marriage record to Sally Holderness.

In the 1860 Census in Calhoun Co AR, it's evident Anderson had a previous wife. Living with him and Sallie is John McLemore age 17 and Alex age 15. Also A. McLemore, age 70, born in Alabama, a mechanic - no doubt Anderson's father. Probably NOT born in Alabama in 1790, though. Sallie's brother Algernon Sidney is also living with them.
Found in 1870 in Hopkins Co TX Census, living in Black Jack Grove near Robert Holderness; p.150, Household 125. Anderson McLemore age 51, Farmer, born in Georgia, Alexander age 26, also a Farmer, born in Alabama, and Virginia, age 16, Keeping house, born in Arkansas. It would appear that Anderson and Sallie had at least one daughter soon after their marriage and Sallie has died before this Census. (however other records suggest that Virginia was born to the first marriage)
1880, Hopkins Co TX, p.97B: Indexed as A. McLamon, age 61, born AL, parents born in NC. Sue was born in Texas, her parents listed as born in NC. Luther, Adaline, and Frank had all been born in Hopkins Co to Anderson and his 3rd wife. A. P., age 35, is living with them - his place of birth listed as AL; his mother Jane Ward born in GA.
