License issued. Signed: Henry Winn, ROCC

John R. B. Eldridge had an association with Robert D. Haden, Susan's probable father. In June of 1823 as executor of the Will of Thomas Eldridge, dec'd of Madison Co, he sold at auction, two tracts of land to the highest bidder. Robert Haden was that bidder. In 1829, Robert Haden made a deed of trust for a slave and other items to be held by John R. B. Eldridge for the benefit of his son William M. Haden and wife.

A son of Robert D. Haden - his namesake, Hon. Robert D. born in 1796, married Mary Eldridge as his 3rd wife - her father said to be a Thomas Eldridge.

FamilySearch entry maintains she subsequently married Thomas Phillips, of Limestone Co, AL, who had previously been married.

1830 Census, Limestone Co, AL
Thomas Phillips: 1 male 10-15, 2 males 20-30, himself, age 40-50. 2 females age 5-10, one female age 10-15, one female age 50-60 (probably too old to be Susan Haden).

Attached to FamilySearch, but obviously NOT the same Thomas Phillips
1840 Census, Limestone Co, AL
Thos R Phillips: 1 male under 5, 1 male 10-15, himself, age 30-40.1 female age 5-10, 3 females 20-30, 1 female 60-70.
This could well be one of the males listed with the older Thomas in 1830 - now married with his widowed mother living with him, as well as some of his siblings. Is it possible Susan was married to this younger Thomas?

I did find listed in the Alabama Deaths, Sue Tisdale, died 1 Nov 1928 in Athens, Limestone, AL, age 87 (born 1841) to Thomas Phillips and Susian Haden. Susan Phillips married Hugh W. Tisdale, 8 Jan 1862, in Limestone Co. FindAGrave shows her grave marker in Athens City Cemetery.
I could not find Susan in 1850 - but in 1860, District 2, Limestone Co, Susan M Phillips, age 19, b. AL, was living with the family of James J. Dawson.

Another proposed son of Thomas & Susan Haden was Thomas H. Phillips who married Celeste F. Redus, 25 Sep 1871, Limestone Co, AL, daughter of Alfred Redus. Richard Eustace Haden, his probable uncle, also married a Martha Redus. The ladies may have been 1st cousins, once removed.
