Goochland Co VA 1809 Book 20, p.416
In the name of God Amen, I Agnes Clopton of the County of Goochland do make this my last will and testament revoking all former wills. I in the first place give my soul to God who gave it to me and my body to the dust where it shall remain until it shall experience a glorious resurrection. I desire that my just debts be paid by my executors hereafter mentioned.
I give to my son Benjamin one walnut desk to him and his heirs forever.
I give to my granddaughter Lucy Perkins, daughter of William Perkins one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
I give to my granddaughter Susanna Ligon all the residue of my estate to wit: All my stock of horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, all my corn, doffer and provisions of every kind, all my plantation utensils of every description, all my household furniture of every description, all my kitchen furniture of every kind, all my crop on hand and everything of which I die possessed and which I have a right to bequeath to her and her heirs and assignees forever.
I give unto my son Anthony Clopton ten dollars, which sum of ten dollars is to be paid out of the ten pounds rent which is given for my land and negroes.
I constitute and appoint my friends Josiah Leake and Richard Ligon executors of this my last will, in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of January 1808.
Signed and sealed in the presence of James Carter and Jesse Clements.
At a monthly Superior Court held for Goochland County at the Court house on Monday the 11th October 1809, this writing was presented in Court and proven by the oaths of James Carter and Jesse Clements to be the last will and testament of Agnes Clopton deceased and ordered to be recorded. Then Josiah Leake, one of the executors herein named appeared in Court and Formally and solemnly renounced all right as an executor under this will and refused to qualify as such.

On the eighteenth Day of December 1809 Richard Ligon made bond as executor.


Agnes's parents were Anthony Morgan and Olive Judith Michaux; her maternal grandparents, Abraham Michaux and Susanne Rochet.

THE DOUGLAS REGISTER lists Abra. Michaux in a list of French Protestant Refugees (Hugenots) in Henrico, Virgina. The list is assigned to the period 1714. Shows Abraham with wife, 4 sons, 6 daughters.

CAVALIERS & PIONEERS, Vol III, p.360 27 Sep 1729. Anthony Morgan, 50 acres in Goochland, South side of James. Surplus within 850 acres granted Abraham Micheaux 27 Jan 1713.

Anthony Morgan witnessed the Will of his mother-in-law Susanna Michaux. He also proved it by his "Solemn Affirmation" as he could not swear on his oath - he was a Quaker and is so listed in the Deed book.

Deed in Cumberland Co dated 27 Oct 1760 between Anthony Morgan of Cumberland, John Minter & Elizabeth his wife, daughter of sd Anthony Morgan, and Benjamin Clopton and Agnes his wife, also a daughter of Anthony Morgan, to Jacob Michaux eldest son and heir-at-law of Jacob Michaux dec'd who was the eldest son and heir-at-law of Abraham Michaux, late of Henrico Co, dec'd. Land on South side James [then in Henrico but now in Cumberland] whereon sd Abraham Michaux in his lifetime and at the time of his death dwelt. Olive Judy Michaux had intermarried with Anthony Morgan after the death of Abraaaaham Michaux and has since departed this life, leaving the aforesaid Elizabeth Minter and Agnes Clopton, the said Anthony Morgan is Tenant by the Curtesie of Olive Judie.
