BENJAMIN CLOPTON

(Abt 1733 - Bef Nov 1790)

Strangely, Benjamin is the only child of Walter & Mary whose birth is not recorded in the St Peters Parish Register. This is the approximate period of time that Vol I of the Register ends and Vol II [whose beginning pages were bound out of order] begins. In fact there are few entries for 1730 & 31 and almost none for 1732. Much of 1733 seems to be missing. In 1730 his father was appointed Church Warden for a two-year term; it seems unlikely he would forget to register the birth of his son. The minister was the same during the transition from one Register to another; however the Clerk of the Vestry (who perhaps was responsible for recording the data?] died prior to the Mar 1734 Meeting.

His son Walter was appointed administrator of his estate in Nov 1790
