Individual Details

Elizabeth was likely was born in Eastown, PA as were the other siblings. Don't think they had gone to North Carolina yet. The Lynn S. Butts home page gives her place of birth as Luxemberg. Some list her as Barbara Elizabeth, but she was Elizabeth in her father's will and in legal proceedings in 1801.

She is said to have married (1) Philip Garner, about 1760, and (2) David Blace. Elizabeth's husband was Garner in the above will and legal negotiations to try and get her brother's to settle the father's estate. I have doubts about this second husband [he is seen as both before Garner and after Garner] as her sister Eliza was married to a DeVault Blaze - I believe there has been confusion regarding the names.

My note: some of the birth dates do not work well with other known vital records - ie., John likely at least ten years older.

A memorial stone has been placed in the Old Toms Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The inscription reads: In Memory of Phillip Garner, B 1740, D 1814 and Wife Elizabeth Winkler, B 1744, D ?, Buried on Original Garner Estate.
