Moses Honeycutt

(1765 - 1850)

Databases concerning Moses online are a mess. I have autosomal DNA matches that go back through Moses and wife Margaret Stout - both claim a son John yet they are certainly not the same person. I have attached both until I have time to try and sort out the mess.

Said to be in Orange Co, NC 1790; Buncombe, NC, 1810; Burke Co, NC in 1820, Wake Co, NC in 1840.

WorldConnect:
1790 Census shows Moses in Hillsborough District of Caswell or OrangeCounty, North Carolina. In the early 1800's he moved to Buncombe County, North Carolina, which is now known as Jack's Creek in Yancey County, North Carolina. It is probable that he lived on what is now called Moses Honeycutt Branch (next tributary above Patterson Branch).Moses' granddaughter, Nancy, lived in an ancient log cabin there which may have been his home. Chimney rocks, flowers, and apple trees still remain.
Moses is listed as Blind and 84 years of age in son, Uriah's householdin the Yancey County, North Carolina 1850 Census. Family tradition is that he tied a rope between two(2) trees and walked back and forth along it to get exercise.
