Agricultural Census for 1880 shows Richard to be quite a good famrer. He had 61 acres of land tilled, 200 acres of woodland - his farm valued at $800. He had sold consumed or had on had about $1000 worth of farm products. He had a pair of oxen, 7 milk cows, 15 other head of cattle - he had slaughtered 2 head. Made about 150 lbs of butter. His crop consisted of 400 bushels of corn, 69 bushels of wheat, 9 bales of cotton, 75 bushels of sweet potatoes

Richard must have married a second time - his widow in 1914 was Mrs. P. J. Mims.

To the Board of Pension Examiners for Chilton Co
Richard Mims resided in the state on 1 Jan 1901. He had served as a Private in Co. E, March 1862 at Mobile and honorably discharged in August of 1862. He is unable to make a living on account of age and disease, Rheumatism. He is 697, his P.O. is Jemison, AL. Signed with his mark.
Elijah Robinson supported his affadavit, 31 May 1901, as did John (x) Baker, Sr. on 1 Jun 1901.
Value of his personal property was $73 - $20 for a cow, $3 for a clock & $50 for household & kitchen furniture.
Mrs. P. J. Mims is listed as his widow. Richard Mims died in Feb of 1902.
21 Jan 1914. John (x) Baker Sr. testified that he knew Richard Mims enlisted in the Confederate Army in Cooper, AL, in the Spring of 1862, under Capt Northington and went to Mobile. He was discharged in about three months and went home. Elijah Robinson testified to the same.
The value of her property was $78 - $25 for cow & calf, $3 for hogs, $50 for household & kitchen furniture.

Panelopa Jane Morris died 2 Feb 1927, Dogwood, Shelby Co, AL, the widow of Richard Morris. She was born about 1850 in Bibb Co, AL, the daughter of Jim & Martha Collins. Buried Center Hill Cemetery.
She was first married to John Thomas Nix, 26 Oct 1865, Autauga Co.
