NOTE: Researchers have badly confused this man with Joseph CLARK Maddox, b. 16 Jun or Jul 1913, died 13 Sep 1986, who was married to Mattie Green, 13 Dec 1931. They are not the same person. Joseph Cooley Maddox was still living at home with his parents in 1940. Their birth dates differ. Joseph Clark Maddox's obit names several brothers and sisters.
