Francis Jackson

(Abt 1757 - 1836)

1776. Amelia Co. VA. Simon Clement appointed guardian of Francis Jackson, Jr. He was a neighbor. Ordinarly a guardian is self-appointed if a lad is over the age of 14 - perhaps he was appointed at the request of Francis Jr.
A hired-researcher on FamilySearch has asserted that this son was born about 1757, married in Amelia Co, VA to Martha Maddera, 10 Feb 1778.

“Forks of Elkhorn Church,” database with images, Ancestry.com; entry for Francis Jackson, page 178.
“Francis Jackson came from Amelia County, Virginia, in 1787, and in 1792 was living in Woodford on Dry Run. He was a member of the Mount Gomer Church. The settlement of his estate, W 1836, shows that he had eight heirs, of whom some were: 1, Madra m Keziah Metcalf, and went to Jefferson, where his daughter Sabina m David S. Cox 1840; 2, Rebecca Bristow; 3, Eliza m Abel Cook, and went to Hichman, Ky.; 4, Nancy B. Long; 5, John A., who probably went to Shelby; 6 Micajah.”
NOTE: Gives proof for Francis's children, Madra, Rebecca, Eliza, Nancy, John A. and Micajah. Missing seems to be a Martha who married Stephen Livingston, 12 Nov 1812, Woodford Co, KY.
