This last listed daughter, and I don't know the birth order of Joseph Motley's children, has been difficult to identify.
I believe she was Elizabeth Motley - I find databases showing a person of this name married to a Floyd Tanner with the following children: Joseph Motley Tanner, Joel Tanner, Asa Tanner, Floyd Tanner & Elizabeth Tanner.

On the other hand:
Lucy, daughter of Joseph & Martha Ellington Motley, married Thomas Tanner, according to one webpage database.

Others show that Lucy Motley who married Thomas Tanner was a daughter of Samuel Motley and Sarah Ellington. I find no real proof that Samuel Motley & Sarah Ellington existed - I suspect a major error that has been replicated. None of them have a marriage date for this supposed Samuel & Sarah, nor do either have parents. The only sons named in the will of the elder Joseph Motley - were Joseph Jr. and Abraham. Some of these databases say Thomas Tanner was a son of Joel Tanner & Lucy Ellington. There is additional proof for this Tanner family, but they don't seem to join the family of Mathew Tanner of Pittsylvania Co in anyway.

What is true is that a daughter of Joseph Motley was deceased when her father wrote his will, Nov 1804, leaving at least three sons with the surname Tanner, named in the will. They were Joseph Motley, Joel and Asa Tanner.

This is also fact.
Thomas Tanner, son of Mathew Tanner, married Nancy Powell, 20 Jun 1795 in Pittsylvania Co VA.
