They had five children of record and perhaps other daughters. Their eldest child was John Motley Morehead (4 July 1796 - 27 Aug. 1866) governor of North Carolina (1841-45). Undoubtedly a grandson was John Motley Morehead (20 July 1866 - 13 Dec. 1923), U.S. Representative from North Carolina (1909-1911).
