FindAGrave lists Polk Co, AR as the birthplace of William, but the family was in Smith Co, TX for the census which was taken on the 4th of July, 1860. The family was in Polk Co by 1862, when the father died.

In fact, a son William J., age 3 was living with the Dunagans in Smith Co, TX in 1860 - it would appear his grave marker is wrong - or there were two little boys named William that died young.
