Robert was likely born Lunenburg or Halifax Co VA. He is named in his father's will, 1778. He doesn't appear on Halifax tax lists with his brothers [1782-1785]. He does appear in Randolph Co NC by 1787. In 1792, Robert Lace was on a list of taxpayers in Madison Co KY, if this is the same man - some family traditions do not place him in Kentucky until 1803.
