In 1700, Mordecai built a house at Boundbrook Bridge in Scituate. He called himself a blacksmith, but he owned grist and saw mills in additon to iron works. About the time he removed to Scituate, his wife Sarah died, and he married the widow Mary Gannett.
Mordecai's will was dated 3 May 1727, proved 27 Mar 1728. He provided for wife Mary, gave son Mordecai 110#'s in bills of credit; to son Abraham 60#'s besides what he already had; to son Isaac the house he then occupied in Hingham [probably the old homeplace]; to son Jacob the homestead at Scituate with the mills, etc. He also made bequests to the eldest children of sons Mordecai & Abraham, to two children of his deceased daughter Elizabeth Cole, the eldest child of his daughter Sarah Tower, to Deborah Gannett his wife's granddaughter and Mary Gannett, her daughter. He made provision for a college education for three of the grandchildren should they desire it. His inventory was over 3000#'s.
