I think we incorrectly jumped to the conclusion that Mary the widow of James Baker died between 1805 and 1813, and that the Mary Vannoy on the 1813 deeds was some unknown daughter who had married a Vannoy.
James did have a daughter Mary, but by 1809 she was married to Abram Willson, not a Vannoy. So who was the Mary Vannoy who signed the 1813 deeds?
On 7 Dec 1807, Francis "Fanoy" married Mary Baker in Jefferson County, Tennessee. I think this shows that James Baker's widow Mary remarried to Francis Vannoy. We still need to find records to confirm this and also to figure out exactly which Francis Vannoy was the groom.
