The Barbour Collection has the date 2 Oct 1739 in the Killingworth Vital Records.
In her father's estate file,
20 Jan 1756. Daniel Willcoks made bond as guardian of Deborah Ward, minor daughter of Peter Ward Junr, late of Killingworth He was her uncle, married to her mother's sister, Hannah Buell.
Undated. This may certifie that Deborah Ward a minor hath this day appeared before me the subscriber and made choice of Lieut Christopher Lay to be her guardian. Before me, Geo. Chapman, just of the peace. To the prerogative Court for the District of Guilford.
I Deborah Ward, Daughter of Peter Ward late of Killingworth, dec'd do hereby acknowledge that I have received my full share & Portion of Estate which was in the hands of my Guardian, Mr. Christopher Lay late of Saybrook Decd and Do fully Acquit & Discharge the Heirs & Executors of Sd Dec'd from any further Demands Touching the Premises.
