Lula Alice Edwards died in St. Johns Hospital, Anderson, Madison Co, IN on 13 Sep 1940 of nephritis and strep throat. She was in the hospital for three weeks, had been in the community for seven weeks. Her usual residence was Clanton, AL. She was born 29 Jun 1873 in Clanton, AL, and was widowed. Her husband was William A. Edwards. Her father was James A. Maddox, her mother Lula Baker, both born in Alabama. The informant was William L. Edwards of Anderson, IN. The body was taken to Clanton, AL for burial.

Mrs. Lula Edwards, age 66, died at the residence of her son in Anderson, Indiana, at 11 am Friday 13th. The remains were shipped here for burial. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:00 pm from Concord church, conducted by Rev. J. W. Jones and G. G. Williams; interment in adjoining cemetery.
She is survived by three sons - V. M. Edwards, Clanton, W. C. Edwards, Anderson, Ind., E. L. Edwards, Anderson, Ind.; two daughters - Mrs. M. V. smith, Clanton, Mrs. A. G.
