Isabella Ross Alexander
"who was born in Scotland 1767, came to America 1785 being a daughter of
James Ross and Margaret Clarke, who was a daughter of James Clarke and Agnes
Galbreath all of Scotland.
"James Ross died before his daughter Isabella was born. He was a silk
manufacturer of Paisley. She was raised by her grandparents, James Clarke and
wife of Campbelltown, Scotland, with her uncles John, James and Peter. John
came to America with her. John lived in York Co., Penn. James and Peter
moved to Holstein."

"Isabella wife of James Alexander born in Scotland A.D. 1767, 'Early in
live she embraced the religion of Christ, and for about half a century, she
was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. With a vigorous and
well-informed mind, of great decision and energy of character, in various
respects she was a most useful member of society and discharged well the
duties of wife and mother; and having filled the remainder of her days, Died
March 30, 1845 in the 78th year of her age, rejoicing in the hope of
everlasting life.'"
