Joseph McKim

(Ca 1803 - Aft 1880)

This connection is not yet proved.

Joseph and John McKim were also found in Belmont. Joseph seems to be a bit too old to be a son of David - was he David's younger brother? John quite possibly a son of either.

Joseph McKim married Jane Fippens, 30 Sep 1841, Belmont Co. This was likely his second marriage - his first wife believe to have been Nancy, surname unknown.

27 Apr 1881 - Will presented to Probate Court. As it had not been deposited in court prior to the death due notice was to be given to James (sic - must have meant Jane) McKim, widow and Martha J. McKim, David McKim, Joseph Maywood, Jane Maywood and Maggie Maywood, next of kin of the testator. Note: there is some confusion regarding commas, etc & the widow's name.
Wm Reid testified he was present for the signing of the will - the deceased was upwards of 75 years of age and of sound mind. Signed: Wm. Reid

A database online, without sources, suggests that Joseph and first wife Nancy had children Sarah who married Lewis Shannon, 14 Nov 1855, Belmont Co.; John, George Washington who married Malvina Shannon ca 1848; Nancy; Samuel; Marcus; and Adam.
By second wife Jane were children Caroline, b. 1842, married John Maywood, 12 Feb 1863, Belmont; Rebecca, b. 1845; Martha J. b. 1847; Maria b. 1848 [died young if she existed]; Joseph b. Feb 1850, David A. b. 1857, married Ella Amanda Coss.
In 1881, when Joseph McKim's will was presented for probate only the widow, Martha, David, and the children of Caroline were mentioned as heirs.

I did find Ohio death certificates for Ella Amanda McKim and David McKim.
Ella was age 72y 10m 12d when she died 8 Feb 1929. Her father was John Coss; her mother Isabel Waters. Her husband David A. McKim of Martin's Ferry was the informant. Ella died of pneumonia and she was buried Scotch Ridge Cemetery.
David died Martin's Ferry; his residence Scotch Ridge. His deceased wife was Ella Coss McKim. He was born 15 Dec 1856, Bridgeport, Ohio, died 1 Nov 1935. He had arteriosclerosis and died of cerebral hemorrhage. Parents were Joseph McKim and Jane Fippen. The informant was Emmett McKim [a son] of Martin's Ferry. David was buried Scotch Ridge Cemetery.
