A Very Sad Accident
On last Friday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Stevinsons little five year old daughter Emma, and their hired help, Arch Brooks, drove out to the farm of D. M. Hulen about two miles east of town to get a load of apples. After filling the large wagon bed, they placed a plan across and used it for a seat and start home. All went well until coming up a hill in front of the Andrew Woods place, in some unaccountable way, while the parents and Mr. Brooks were not looking, the little girl fell from the wagon, and they knew nothing of it until they had gone a few yards. When they first saw the body they thought it a garment that had fallen from the wagon and hastened to pick it up. when they found it to be their little Emma, the parents almost went wild with grief. The wheel had either passed over the right side of her forehead or she struck it in the fall, as blood was gushing from the nose, mouth and ears, and the child unconscious, scarcely breathing. As quickly as possible and hoping against hope, they brought her to the house of her uncle, Dr. R. S. Austin, who had been apprised of the accident by telephone. In a few minutes the little life had gone out and the grief of the parents was heart rending. The body was then taken home to a sad place, which only the day before had been a happy home and the scene of great merriment, as a great number of relatives had gathered there to help celebrate Mr. Stevinson's birthday and eat the good dinner prepared by his excellent wife. But such is life. Truly we know not what a day or an hour may bring forth. Thousands of homes all over our land are every year turned from a house of joy to a house of mourning. Little Emma, the third and last daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stevinson was born March 28, 1901; died Oct 26, 1906. She was an unusually sweet child with a happy, contented disposition, always wearing a smile. On Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, a very comforting sermon was preached to a large congregation, assembled to sympathize with the bereaved ones by Eld. W. S. St. Clair and the body was lain away amid flowers in the Red Top cemetery. Four little girls dressed in white were pall bearers. The entire community joins in extending sympathy with the family in this sore trial. May He who wept with Martha and Mary comfort them with assurance that all is well with Emma now.

Emma's stone as pictured has an angel child who looks to be about the age of Emma.
