Virginia Starling of Shoals applied 25 Aug 1896. She was a daughter of William A. Poindexter, son of William. She signed with her mark. She also applied for her daughters: Callie J. who married John W. Douglas, Mary F. who married James Ellis Douglas, and Florence E. Starling.

Mary S. Owen, another daughter of William A. Poindexter, applied 25 Aug 1896. She stated her husband was Thomas Owen. [most of this application is unreadable] She had three children, Julius, Byron, and Ellen.
I was unable to find her in 1900, although the Poindexter book says they lived and died in Surry Co NC.
