SETH W BEALS
A recent telegram announced to Mrs. S. M. Philpot the death of her uncle, Capt Seth W. Beals, August 3, at Robers, Ark., where he had been visiting his children. Captain Beals was well known in this part of the country and will be remembered by all old settlers. He served during the civil war and moved here with his wife shortley afterward. He was an architect by profession, filled the office of justice of the peace for Humboldt township several terms and was a member of the Negraska legislature at one time. He was custodian of the government building in Lincoln for several years, then moved on his farm south of Humboldt, now owned by James Trimble, where he engaged in the raising of fine stock. He however, got the southern fever, and about 1886 went to Rogers, Ark., where for eight years he was employed as timber and tie inspector for the Frisco railway. From there he moved to Whittier, Calif., where he wife, Sarah, died Feb 8 1907, after which he lived with a daughter at Tulare, Calif. Two sons and three daughters survive to mourn his loss.
