Jenckes Comstock
( - )
Jenckes lived in Boston, MA. He was a rope maker. Two of his half-brothers, Lyndon & Brown Comstock would also be involved in hemp manufacture - rope-making - in Lexington Ky. [The manuscript of Samuel Willett Comstock states that this information came from John Spickernagle, grandson of Jenckes brother William]
Caroline Porter, daughter of Jenckes half-sister Elizabeth, stated that Jenckes had lived for a time with his brother Seth and worked in the tailoring business, but they were involved with hemp at the time. This seems to have been the source for Jenckes' occupation.
I have searched Boston city directories, some began as early as 1787, up through 1820 for any Comstock. None found.
