Appointments Annouced
Dr. William Dandridge Haden of Charlottesville was named a member of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors, to succeed Hollis Rinehart of Charlottesville, who died recently. The appointment is for the unexpired term ending in February, 1944.
Served as Mayor
Dr. Haden is a graduate of the medical school, University of Virginia. He is president of the National Bank and Trust Company and president of the Martha Jefferson Hospital of Charlottesville. He served 12 years as a member of the city commission of Charlottesville and for six years of that time as Mayor.

Dr. W. D. Haden, Aged 65, Dies at Charlottesville
Charlottesville, April 8
Dr. William Dandridge Haden, 65, member of the board of visitors of the University of Virginia, president of the National Bank and Trust Company, thrice Mayor of Charlottesville, and long prominent in the civic and business life of the city died Sunday at University Hospital.
Private funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday in Monticello Memorial Park.
He was a native of Fluvanna County, son of the late Eldridge G. Haden who served two terms as Mayor of Charlottesville. His mother was the former Miss Martha Douglas Early of Campbell County. After attending public schools in Fluvanna & Campbell Counties, he entered the University of Virginia and graduated from the medical department in 1910. Following a post-graduate course at Johns Hopkins, he returned to Charlottesville, where he successfully practiced his profession for over 20 years. In 1933 he quit the practice of medicine in order to accept the presidencey of the National Bank and Trust Company.

Dr. Haden married Miss Sallie C. Pugh, daughter of the late Llewellyn and Josephine Randolph Pugh, of New Orleans, by whom he is survived with four children: Mrs. Sallie Haden Yon, wife of Lieutenant-Commander Joseph L. Yon, USN; Llewellyn P. Haden of this city; Dr. W. D. Haden Jr., USN, stationed in Washington; and Mrs. Elizabeth Catherine Smith, wife of Lieutenant William Massie Smith, USMCR; a brother, Abner E. Haden, and one sister, Mrs. Anna D. Scruggs, both residents of Charlottesville.
