Amelia [Hightower]

(Ca 1748 - )

In at least one record in Georgia, William Hightower's wife was referred to by name as Mildred - that might have been a misunderstanding of her name as she was called Milly at other times.

She was still living in 1837 when she was mentioned in a lawsuit in Autauga Co, AL.

Manuscript found in the Hightower Folder, Vertical File, Georgia State Archives, submitted by Joseph Henry Hightower Moore as part of the documentation of the history of the Libery Chapel, Inman United Methodist Church, Fayette Co GA.
Many databases give her the name of Amelia Farr or Fann - neither is correct. There was another William Hightower of Clarke and Fayette Co, Georgia. He was in the Fayette Co Census in 1850, born about 1778 and therefore could not be the elder William Hightower - his wife was a Miss Fann - her given name unknown. Someone combined the two wives and confused two different William Hightowers. Amelia's surname is unknown.
