Individual Details
Jacob Comstock
(Abt 1778 - Bef 1864)
Thought Comstock Family in America assigned Jacob a birth of 1775 and his mother as Abigail. This doesn't work too well with a legacy left by Abigail's mother to her sons David & John.
Jacob married (1) about 1807 to Mehitabel Olds (2 Feb 1804) and (2) to Abigail Smith, 21 Apr 1826.
John A. Comstock says that Abigail was born 12 May in Brimfield, MA and died in Southbridge, MA [a widow] on 3 Jan 1864, age 75 years. She was first married to David B. Smith and was a daughter of Samuel & Mary (King) Shaw.
Notes from the Stone House Museum in Belchertown, MA: In addition to the marriage info, supplied above,
1) Writ of Justus Forward, sheriff of Hampden Co. to seize Jacob Comstock of Pelham and forward him to the justice of the peace due to unpaid debts-dated 4 Aug. 1818
2) Bail bond of Jacob Comstock on 14 Nov. 1817
3) IOU from Jacob Comstock to Mellen Sanford on 6 Dec. 1816
4) Attachment of the estate of Jacob Comstock on 28 July 1817
5) Jacob Comstock, Abigail his wife and Mehitable, their daughter on Pauper accounts and letter book between the years of 1829-67.
I found Abby Comstock, living in Sturbridge, Worcester Co MA in 1850. She was age 62, or born 1788, and in the household of Louie H. Benson and wife Mary M., age 20. She was said to have had a daughter Mehitabel - was this perhaps Mary M.?
