William T. "Will" Holderness

(Abt 1859 - )

The obituary of William's father listed Sidney as the only son in 1893, but this was not correct. From The Daily Constitution, printed in Atlanta, GA on 4 Apr 1909:
"Mr. and Mrs. Will Holderness of Chattanooga, spent Sunday in Carrollton, where they attended the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Sarah Holderness." On 3 May 1908 had been the note that "Mrs. Sidney Holderness leaves next week for a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Will Holderness of Chattanooga, Tenn."

The 1860 census had William, age 1, born in Georgia. In 1870 he was age 7.
The 1880 census gave William's age as 18, born 1862. He thereafter seemed to want to be some younger. Certainly he would seem to have been born prior to 1860.
The 1900 Census states that W. T. Holderness was born Nov 1877 but then gives his age as 32, or born about 1868. The 1900 Census states his age as 40. Son McKinley was already age 4 by 1900, so I believe the birth year was off by at least 10 years. Then since Pearl was 10 years younger, hers is also wrong. The census shows her as being only 9 years older than her son McKinley
