Joshua Echols [838.2.3] (-1800) purchased 400 acres on the upper side of Catawba Creek 3 April 1778. When he sold 102 acres on Catawba 29 December 1778, Margaret — relinquished her dower right.
Of his 400 acres on Catawba Creek, Joshua deeded 100 acres to Peter Crews 8 October 1780, 285 acres to Francis Moore Petty 20 December 1781, and remaining 15 acres to his brother Joseph Echols 25 January 1783.
Joseph Echols was head of a household of six whites and one black in Pittsylvania County in 1782.
Joshua died in Pendleton District (now Anderson County) South Carolina by 26 November 1800 when they recorded his estate inventory. A 1818-deed identified his wife as Margaret and other heirs as John Echols, Darius Echols, James Echols, Joshua Echols, Abraham Echols, Elijah V. Echols, and Richard Brown. Source John W. Pritchett
