Moses Dexter
(1752 - 1825)
Moses inherited his grandfather Stephen Dexter's estate. His father died before the grandfather. Through primogeniture the estate had descended to his older brother Joseph, who died intestate and without issue. Moses then also died intestate and without issue. His three uncles, younger brothers of his father Joseph Dexter, had all been dead for many years, so the estate descended to multiple cousins and their children. The result was a law suit heard before the Circuit Court D, in RI, at the November Term 1826.
