Individual Details
Philip Johnson
(Abt 1715 - )
A record in the Williamsburg Chancery Court shows that a Col. Philip Johnson married twice. He is presumably this man although proof is lacking.
Philip Johnson married Elizabeth Bray, daughter of Col. Thomas Bray, James City County, before Nicholas Meriwether wrote his will, 12 Dec 1743, when he gave his granddaughter Elizabeth Bray two Negro boys. On Oct 1743, he delivered the boys to Mr. Philip Johnson, her husband.
Philip and Elizabeth are said to have had seven children. He was a representative of James City County in the House of Burgesses.
