James Richardson II

( - Jun 1826)

Information on these families is found in several WorldConnect files.

This must be this same James Richardson. The wife's name was Nancy in the will, so it's not the James who married Elizabeth Pass. The provisions of James's will and subsequent division of slaves, indicates a wife Mary [or Nancy?] that has married Stephen Sargent [she was to get 1/6 if she remarried]. Children would seem to be Susan, James, Edmund, Robert, William, Elizabeth and Mary Ann - four of them [Edmund, Robert, Elizabeth & Mary Ann] were still underage in 1838

In the Guardianship Records, Book 4, p.1838, there is an account of Stephen Sergant, who was guardian for Edmund, Robert P., Mary A., and Elizabeth F. Richardson.
William Richardson mentioned a brother James. There is in Caswell WB L, p.112, July Court, 1826, a will for James Richardson, written 2 Jul 1826. His wife Nancy [has this been misread - should it have been Mary?] is to use all proceeds for benefit of the children; plantation purchased of Henry Sergeant and land on Hogan's Creek. If she remarries, she should have 1/6 part, the remainder to the children; if she does not remarry she is to have, 1/8 part. Executor to be brother-in-law Robert Ware to be advised by wife. Wit: John P. Harrison, Henry Sergeant, Edward Rudder. The inventory followed including a long list of bonds due the estate, etc.
