There is on Ancestry the following Lutheran birth that coul be Emilie:
Bertha Emilie Berthold born to Septus and Sophie Emilie Berthold, 4 Feb 1845 in Saxony. A son Otto Siptus Berthold was also born to this couple - he was born 28 Nov 1848 and baptised 17 Dec 1848 in Saxony, Germany. Otto married Wilhelmine Freiderike Wittig, 30 Apr 1881 and the same date of birth and the same parents are indicated. The records are in German and I have been unable to read them for myself for dates, etc.

The only place I found a maiden name for Emilie was the death certificate of son Otto. His second wife was the informant and I have no idea whether or not it is correct. Paul McKim gave the surname Berthold for Emilie's father, on her death certificate

I found Emilie and her three daughters on the Passenger list of the "Salier" which arrived from Bremen, Germany, in New York, 11 Jun 1883. They were in Steerage.

The "Salier" was built by Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co, Hull, England, and was 3,098 tons. A single-screw, her speed was 13 knots. Two masts, one funnel, an iron hull. She was launched 14 Jun 1874, the Bremen-Southampton-New York rout. She was later the pioneer North German Lloyd steamer to Australia. Mainly used on the Germany-Australia route, she was also used the Bremen-South American trade, and made a number of New York sailings. She was sunk in the Bay of Biscay, December 1896, with the loss of 279 loss. This note appeared in The New York Times, 11 Dec 1896:

The North German Lloyd Steamer Salier had Foundered.
Corunna, Dec. 10. The North German Lloyd steamer Salier, from Bremen, for Buenos Ayres, foundered off Villagracia, twenty miles north of Vio. She carried a crew of between sixty and seventy men, all of whom went down with the steamer. She also carried a number of passengers, none of whom escaped the fate of the crew.

August Schniebs died in the late 1880's - son Otto was born April 1888 and Emelie remarried in 1890.
Marriage Record: Sebastian County AR. Emelia Schneibs married Henry Waschow 12 Oct 1890. He was of Johnson Co; Emelia of Sebastian; both gave their age as 44.
Daddy talked about his grandmother as though he had known her as a small boy; she lived until 1934 and she was living with Ida and Paul at the time of her death.
According to family tradition, she came from Germany with her parents when a girl and she spoke mostly German. [I have since found that Mary Ida was the little girl who immigrated - with her mother to join her father - in 1882 as per the 1900 census. The ship's passenger lists reveals they actually landed at Castle Garden, New York, 11 Jun 1883.]

Amilie Wachow, mother-in-law. b. Mar 1846, age 54. Married 28 years. Had 9 children, 4 are living. Born Germany as were her parents. [She had married Henry Waschow 10 years before. Was the 28 years the time she was married to Otto Schniebs? She isn't marked as a widow and she was also counted with Henry. The naturalization columns are all blank.]

In 1900, 198 persons lived in Pope Co that were born in Germany.

Henry Wachow, born Nov 1845, age 54, married for 10 years. Born Germany as were his parents. In the column for number of years in the U.S. is a peculiar swiggle mark - could be na for naturalized in the wrong column, or simply a marker for "don't know". Cannot read or write English, but speaks it.
Amelia, wife, b. Mar 1844, but marked as age 54. Married 10 years; 9 children, 4 living. Born Germany as were her parents. Naturalization columns the same as Henry's. Says she can read, write, and speak English.

Henry Warshaw, age 65, married 3 times, he has been married 19 years this last time. Born in Holland as were his parents [Germany first written in, then marked out]. Naturalized 1869. He speaks English; is a farmer.
Amelia, wife, age 65, married 2 times, this last time for 19 years. Born Saxon, Germany, as were her parents. Naturalized 1884. Speaks English.

I have never been able to find Henry or Emilie in 1920.

In 1930, Emilie Waschow, mother-in-law, was living with Paul McKim in Washington Co AR. This answers several questions. She did remarry in her old age. She likely died in Washington Co and is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Springdale and that's where Paul & Ida McKim are buried. She was listed as age 85, born in Germany and speaking German. The date of immigration is given as 1872, or could be 1892, but neither is correct. Naturalization was marked "Al" or Alien, so perhaps she was never a citizen of the U.S.

I did find her grave in the Lutheran Cemetery in Springdale, in the row behind Ida & Paul:

Arkansas Death Certificate #1312. Emilie Washaw of Prairie Twp, Washington Co, AR, died 19 Apr 1934 of organic heart lesion and senility. She was born 25 Mar 1845 in Housdorse (sic), Germany. Father's surname, Berthold, b. Germany - nothing for mother. Paul McKim was the informant. Buried in Springdale, AR April 21st.

This could be Emilie's baptism in Germany (but only if her date of birth had been forgotten at the time of her death!)_
