In Logan Co, James Curry Barnett was one of the Executors of brother William's will along with the widow, June 1804. Logan Co WB A, p.22 & p.79
A lawsuit in Logan Co may give us the wife of James.
Equity box 6, Case #82. Filed 27 June 1816. Absolom Bryant, who died intestate, had the following heirs:
Enoch, Edward, Ely, Hiram & William, sons.
Polly & Nancy Bryant, daughters.
Edward & Dicy Bryant Stapleton and James & Rebecca Bryant Barnett, married daughters.
The inventory of the estate of Absalom Bryant was taken 18 Aug 1804 by Appraisers, Wm Haden, John Neely, & Thos. Butler. Adm: Elizabeth Bryant [presumably the widow] . Logan Co WB A, p.67-79.
However, a later lawsuit [Equity box 18, Case #438, dated 15 Aug 1823] suggests that William Bryant, son of Absolom, may have been married to a Lydia Barnett Bryant whose father was Richard Barnett. Richard Barnett also had a son James who could well have been the James who married Rebecca Bryant as above. The fact that two James Barnetts were living in close proximity could explain why James, son of Thomas, went by James C. Barnett.
There is a marriage record in Logan Co for James Barnett to Rebecca Briant, Dec. 13 or 23, 1815. p.6 of Logan Co Marriages. And William Brient to Lydia Barnett on 20 Dec 1815. p.11 of Logan Co Marriages. Other Bryant marriages were Edward to Hannah Ashbern on 24 Apr 1809, Enoch to Sally Arnold on 30 Jan 1806, Hyram to Elizabeth Neil on 4 Aug 1813, Eli to Patsy Myes on 18 Dec 1815.
