Robert Howard Cash

Although always referred to as simply Howard Cash in his life time and in the wills of his father and himself, there is the following deed suggesting he was Robert Howard Cash:
Amherst DB E, p.38 7 Sep 1778. Robert Howard Cash & wife, Tamsey, to Hendrick Arnold, all of Amherst, 545 acres willed to the said Robert of his father Robert Howard Cash, dec'd. Patented to Robert Cash, 3 Nov 1750, at Williamsburg.


The Will of Howard Cash is in Amherst Co VA Will Book 1, p.228-231:
Dated: 28 Feb 1772. Submitted for probate: 6 Oct 1772.
Lend my wife Ruth, eight negroes: Joseph, Cate, James, Charles, Sall, Dinah, Dick & David. Also the land and plantation where I live during her natural life or widowhood
To son Joel, 100 acres joining the land where he lives and 2 slaves. And to my grandson Howard, son of Joel, after the death of Joel.
To dau Mary Lively, slave Sarah
To son Benjamin, 400 acres adjacent the property of Capt. Aaron Higginbotham, and the land where I live. Also fellow James whom I purchased of W. Thomas Mitchell
Lend to dau Rosanna, slave Fillis and after Rosanna's decease to my grandson Micajah
Lend to dau Ann Powell, slave Peg and after her decease to her heirs; if she has no issue, the increase to descend to the childron of Rosanna
To son Robert, 240 acres between the land where I live and Stephen Cash's land. Also the 400 acres which I left to my wife, after her decease; a boy John, bed & furniture and 2 cows
To dau Maryann, boy Ralph, a bed & furniture and a cow & calf
My dau Elizabeth Nuckles may have 30£ to be raised out of my estate to be paid in ten years, by an order for 3£ per year upon some merchant
To dau Ruth, girl named Nell, also bed & furniture and cow & calf
To son Stephen, 5 sh.
To daughter Sarah Mauze [Mayse], 5 sh
After decease of wife Ruth, James & Charles descend to son Joel; Joseph & Cate to son Benjamin; Sall & Davie to son Robert
After the decease of me and my wife, the increase of Sall is to be divided between daughters Mary Ann and Ruth
Any residue to my wife during her life and after to be divided equally between sons Joel, Benjamin & Robert.
I do not desire the estate be appriased; wife to be executrix and sons Joel, Benjamin & Robert, executors.

Daughter Mary was married to Joseph Lively. Rosanna was married to William Bicknall. Ann was married to Thomas Powell. Sarah "Mause" was married to Joseph Mays. Ruth married Hendrick Arnold and moved to Laurens Co SC - he applied for Administration of the estate of his mother-in-law, Ruth Cash in early 1784.
March Court, 1784, Amherst. On motion of Hendrick Arnold, administration of the estate of Ruth Cash, dec'd is granted him, who with Caleb Higginbotham, his security, their bond of 1000£.
Jacob Symth, John Karr, Nathaniel Hill, & John Hill, or any three, to appraise the estate of Ruth Case and return an inventory to this court.
