Ruth's surname is seen in databases online as "Elphingston" or similar spellings - it seems unlikely and there is no proof. Walker is a surname cited but that seems to have resulted from a number of baptisms of the children of a Ruth Walker and William Cash of Goochland, that had been attached to this Ruth at FamilySearch.org.
Ruth along with three of the sons applied for Probate of the estate of Howard Cash on 6 Oct 1772.
Amherst Order Book 1782-84, p.205-206. Motion of Hendrick Arnold, to administer estate of Ruth Cashe, dec'd. Granted. Caleb Higginbotham, his security. Bond in penalty of 1000#'s.
[Arnold was married to daughter Ruth. Caleb Higginbotham was married to daughter Maryann.]
