Larkin Cleveland

(6 Apr 1748 - 9 Jul 1814)



Larkin married Francis "Fannie" Wright, Feb 1773 in Sussex Co VA. He was a lieutenant in the Revolution, serving under his brother Col. Benjamin. He was shot by the Tories on the march to King's Mountain and was left a cripple. In 1784, Larkin was a representative in the GA Assembly from Franklin County. He sold his land to Robert Walters and settled in Lincoln Co TN.

Deed Book C, Page 24b: Deed dated 26 Jan. 1788, rec. (no date), from John Cobb and wife Mildred of Richmond Co. Va. to Larkin Cleveland of Franklin Co. In cons. of 100 lbs., conveys 575 sv. in Franklin Co. on Cobbs Crk., commonly called Clevelands Mill Crk., surveyed by John Gorham Esq. 23 July 1784 on bounty warrants of Robert Walton and Ezekial Offutt. Wit: John Gorham, J.P., Thomas Payne, Ja's Fontain, Mrs. Mildred Cobbs relinquished her dower rights before Tho. Payne, J.P. 11 Feb. 1788. (with plat)
