Individual Details
Robert Anderson
(1634 - Bef 21 Jun 1712)
Robert received 727 acres in New Kent Co for import of 15 persons on 16 Apr 1683 [PB 7, p.272]. He was a Vestryman for St. Peter's in 1686; then St. Paul's from 1704 until his death. He is said to have married Cecilia Massie who's family came to Virginia about the same time as the Andersons. She is supposed to have been a daughter of D. Massie and Lucelia Poindexter. [This Lucelia is not listed in any of the Poindexter books and there is obviously some confusion with "Lucelia" and the sometime "Cecilia Poindexter" listed by some as wife of Richard Clough some two generations later. It's obvious that there is some confusion in the research of the Anderson family.]
An Anderson website

has a fairly reasonable outline of this family although not a lot of proof is given.
Robert Anderson, Sr. and Capt Robert Anderson Junr. were for many years both serving on the Vestry of St. Paul's Parish, New Kent County, VA. At the Vestry meeting of the Lower Church on 21st June 1712, Capt Robt Anderson was present and there was noted:
"Mr. Joseph Baughon be Elected a Vestry man for this parish in the room of Mr. Robt Anderson lately Deceased..."
