Ann Anderson

(Abt 1708 - 1803)

This appears to be one of the earliest signs of an affiliation with the Andersons which carried down into the Poindexter family. However, a footnote in the Crawford book states:
"In NOTES & QUERIES (Eng.) we find a letter from George Crawford, Esq. author of the earliest "Scottish Peerage" (who died, Glasgow, 1748), addressed by him to his father-in-law, James Anderson, Esq. between whom it would appear that a coolness had existed. The letter deprecates any further misunderstandings, especially on account of the health of his wife "Peggie". This letter shows an alliance between Crawfords and Andersons in Scotland.

Ann is said to be the daughter of John Anderson and his wife Sarah Waddy, and a sister to Nelson Anderson of St. Paul's Parish. John & Sarah Anderson were married about 1700 - whether here or Scotland is not known. In 1724, John Anderson received a grant in Hanover. In 1735, Sarah Anderson, widow of John Anderson, gentleman, of Parish of St. Paul's and her son John, conveyed to John Thompson lands as Assassquin River. [this is the same location of the first David Crawford's land.
