Peter is said to have married Lydia Cawthon who was likely a sister to Judith Cawthon that married Peter's brother Elijah Walters. Children are given as Elijah, Peter J, Griffin, Thomas, Moses, and John C. Walters. They are listed as born in South Carolina which is not likely. A John C. Walters was listed in the Franklin Co GA census in 1820, 1830, and 1840.

A sister, Hannah, married Clayborne Cauthon before 1797.

Peter's son Griffin married 14 Jul 1815 to Matilda Tolbert.

[Peter had a brother named John. Peter had a son John C. Peter's brother Robert also had a son named John. Presumably John Jr is either his son or his nephew.]

1830 Census, Franklin Co GA, p.252. Peter Walters, Snr [Indexed as Jr, but I read as Snr based on other handwriting on the page] 1m 70-80 [Peter born bet 1750-1760], 1f 20-30, 1f 70-80 [Lydia].

Although the Ancestral File states that Peter died in November 1834 in Franklin County and there is a recent gravemarker stating he died circa 1832, I believe he did not. I believe that both Peter and Lydia were still living in 1840. Here is the 1840 Franklin Co GA census, p.300: Peter "Warters" 1m age 80-90, 1f 40-50 [looks like the enumerator also put in 1f 30-40 then tried to rub it out], 1f 80-90.
