His death certificate gives his parents as Anderson Fox and Myram Bassham. He was a widower at the time he died. He died of heart failure at age 84. He is buried Fox Cemetery in Jackson Co.

They had a son, Merida Wilson Fox who never married. He died 7 Aug 1936 at age 54 years, 8 months, 4 days - which calculates to a birth of about 3 Dec 1881. He had tuberculosis of the throat. His parents are listed as B. Bart Fox and Malinda E. Chaffin.

Another son was Ben Anderson Fox, born about 1867, who died 27 Jan 1939. He was a preacher and listed as married at the time of his death. Mandy Fox was the informant. He was found dead and believed to have died of heart disease. Parents given as Barth Fox and Lindy Chaffin. He was buried Smyrna Cemetery in Putnam Co. TN

He appears to be the Benjamin B. Fox that applied for his pension. On 15 Mar 1920, he stated he was of Rt. 3, Gainesboro, TN - he was a Pensioner and was 23 Feb 1840.
He applied 4 Sept 189 stating he contracted asthma during the latter part of the war which has continued to get worse until his health is entirely destroyed. He enlisted in Capt Brown's Company E, 28th TN Infactry. He had a wife and three children, two girls and one boy who are not able to support him. His wife is age 50. His family doctor testified to his illness (his name unreadable). Jno. S. Qualls also testified that he was in all the battles with him.
