1840 Searcy Co AR. Joseph Brown was listed as the Marshall for taking the census. He apparently did not enumerate himself.

1850 Pope Co AR, p.262, Household 309. Joseph Brown, age 47, b. SC; Kiziah, age 40, b. TN. William T. age 19, b. MO. Thomas W. Age 15, Martha J. 13, Sarah F. 10, Pelina 6, and Minerva C. 1; all born in Arkansas. It would appear Joseph moved to Arkansas before 1835.

Joseph Brown, age 57, Farmer, b. SC; Kisah, age 50 b. TN; Sarah F. age 20, Paulina age 15, Minerva age 12 and Eldy C. age 9. Children all born in AR.
In household 596 just before Joseph i probably his son William:
William S. Brown, age 29, Farmer, b. MO [would seem to be the same as the William T. of 1850.], Elda age 29, b. TN, Thomas f. age 7, Mahala J. age 5, Wade H. age 11/12. Children born in AR.

Joseph is said to have died in the Civil War in Missouri. Unconfirmed.

1870 Pope Co AR, Allen Twp, p.320, Household 106. Keziah Brown, age 60, Keeping House, b. MO. She can't read or write. Sarah age 25, Pelina 23, Monerva 20, William M. age 12, attends school. [I cannot explain this youngest child. Perhaps a grandchild?]

1880, Martin Twp, Pope Co AR, p.57c Keziah Brown, age 70, b. TN was living with her son-in-law Riley W. Freeman, age 30 and his wife Pelina, age 32. Keziah's father was born in Virginia, her mother in Tennessee.
