She signed her own consent; married by Rev. Orson Martin. Eady said to be much younger. William H. Tunstall was the bondsman.

Edith was age age 30-40 in the 1830 Census; she was apparently about half the age of Philip Thomas when she married him.

18 Dec 1837 Pittsy CR 34, p.52 Eady Thomas appointed Guardian of her son Philip Thomas.

21 Sep 1841 Pittsy DB 45, p.202 Edith Thomas, widow of Philip, along with Stephen Myers, who are to be married, made deed indenture that none of the land and slaves of Edith Thomas may be liable for sd Myers' debts and that Philip Thomas, infant son of Edith Thomas, shall be clothed & boarded free of charge while at home until age 21.

29 Sep 1841 Pittsy DB 45, p.203 Edith Thomas to her son Philip Thomas …love & affection and $5. Slaves, horse, etc. Possession of slaves at age 21; If he should died the slaves revert to his mother. He is not to be charged with keeping the slaves & horse until he is 21. [More of the prenuptials.]

Although there were three Stephen Myers in the 1850 Pittsylvania Census, none had a wife named Edy - one Stephen was six years old, another was age 37 and was living alone, the third was age 80 and Dicey age 60 was living with him. There were two Wright teenagers and a 20 year old Edward Myers.
