BIRTH: Age 5 1850 Census of Pittsylvania County VA age 16 on 23 Dec 1862, Pittsylvania Co. Virginia. Marriage reg. Birth date shown as 11 January 1846 on a sampler she stitched in 1864. The sampler is in the possession of Linda Abel in Sandy Utah Aug 1998. A Thomas family Bible shows her birth as June 11, 1846. The Bible entry is said to be written over.

Henry County Native Passes Away At Axton following Decline in Health ----
Funeral services for Mrs. Pocahontas Thomas Gravely,widow of the late George W. Gravely, life long resident of the Axton community of this county, who passed away Tyesday morning following a long decline in health, were held from the old home at Axton Wednesday afternoon. Death was due to infirmaties of old age. Her pastor, Rev. L. G. Tinnell of the Axton Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. W. G. Hughes of the Baptist Church conducted the final rites. Internment was made in the family burial plot at Axton.
Surviving are the following children; Ferdinand, W. M., G. C., and John L. , all of Axton; Frank Gravely of Danville; Mesdames Will Rogers of Leaksville, N.C., and W. P. Dix of Ringgold, Virginia. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Her husband preceeded her to the grave several years ago.
A large concorse of relatives and friends attended the funeral services in paying this well known Henry county woman a final tribute, many from Martinsville being present.
