Aug 1834. John Walters to Joel B. Walters, gift of land.
Joel Brown Walters, married Katherine Coleman, daughter of Col. Stephen Coleman & Polly Williams of Warrenton, North Carolina. They had ten children; we know of only three. [I found 6 more listed in the 1850 & 1860 censuses and the 10th buried Walters cemetery as a 4-year-old]] "They settled in the west. " This statement was somewhat erroneous - they moved from Pittsylvania Co across the state line to Caswell Co NC.

Nathaniel P. Thomas had left 500 acres in Caswell Co to his youngest son Junius when Nathaniel died in 1851 - he called it the "Crowder tract". The property was sold on his behalf in 1853 [Junius was still a minor] - probably at the time all that family was moving to Arkansas. Joel Brown Walters purchased the property for $4,630 according to a descendant. The plantation was then named North Bend, and Joel lived there until his death. Joel and Nathaniel's wife Rebecca were 1st cousins through their Stamps ancestors, 2nd cousins through their Walters ancestors.
