BARTHOLOMEW HARRIS

In 1597, one George Peard was elected Member of Parliament for Barnstable, in place of Bartholomew Harris "a choice not liked by the Earl of Bath" who claimed the right to nominate one member.
Mayor of Barnstaple, Devonshire in 1602.
Bartholomew was co-executor of the estate of John Harris, whose will was dated 1600. John Harris was Mayor of Barnstaple 1578, and again in 1596. There was likely a kinship.
On 22 Nov 1615, administration of his estate was granted to Elizabeth his wife. Inventory was taken 21 Nov 1615 by Henry Collamore of Tawton Bishop [Elizabeth's brother] and his sons, John, Thomas & William Collamore, and Mathew Tooker of Barnstaple. Bond was signed 22 Nov 1615 by Elizabeth Harries of Barnstaple, widow, and William Collamore of Tawton.
